Alyson meyer gould, MEMBERAlyson focuses her law practice on the representation of water districts, contractors, and property owners in federal, state, water court, and administrative proceedings. In addition, Alyson advises clients concerning land use, contractual issues, and matters involving local governments. She has a range of hands-on experience with all stages of litigation including discovery, mediation, trial, and appeals. Alyson also has transactional experience drafting and interpreting contractual agreements. On her client’s behalf, she has testified before the Colorado General Assembly as well as local governments.
Alyson earned a J.D. and a LL.M. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. In law school, she was named “Outstanding LL.M. Student of the Year” for receiving the highest overall grades in the program. Alyson also received honors for achieving the highest grades in Hazardous Waste Law and International Environmental Law. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at Bucknell University. |

Federal Court
- Argued before U.S. District Court for Wyoming in favor of for forest management to address threats from bark beetle and wildfires.
- Second-chair before U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s interpretation of qualifying-facilities.
- Assisted in litigation and mediation involving innovative water-well technology including leadership on extensive discovery and motions practice requiring lay and expert depositions.
- Successful challenge to assessor’s tax classification on agricultural land.
- Managed litigation and mediation involving dispute over crops and equipment.
- Managed approximately one-dozen cases in Colorado Water Court, Division 1 on behalf of irrigation district.
- Managed approximately one-dozen cases in Colorado Water Court, Division 7 on behalf of irrigation company.
- Successful application before Colorado Ground Water Commission and local Ground Water Management District changing the use of fifteen wells with opposition from seven objectors.
- Drafted model agreements for water well contractor’s use throughout western region between customer and contractor, and contractor and subcontractor.
- Reviewed and interpreted easements, oil and gas leases, and water supply and infrastructure-related agreements on a routine basis.
- Testified before the Colorado Senate Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Energy Committee on behalf of agricultural group regarding water-related bills.
- Testified and engaged with County Commissioners of Weld County regarding revision of county code relative to installation of water pipelines.
- Assisted Colorado agricultural organization in creation and structuring of program to match members to qualified legal representation.
- Assisted clients in obtaining payments for labor, work, and materials utilizing lien and foreclosure mechanisms.
